Romantic Waterfall Engagement–Cedartown, GA

I never know where this “job” is going to take me. It often takes me to unfamiliar places, sometimes outside of my comfort zone. It’s challenging and even more rewarding. And sometimes, on the really good days, it brings old friends back into my life! When Marie contacted me a few months ago about wedding and engagement photography I was so excited, not only to add her and her sweet fiance to my 2018 schedule but also to catch up on an old friendship that goes back as far back as the 6th grade.

We started planning for their engagement session and Marie & Doug were up for anything, mentioning only that they wanted something “outdoorsy”. I knew immediately that this would be the perfect opportunity to suggest one of my favorite spots to shoot in the area! Hightower Falls, in Cedartown, GA, is truly a hidden gem. Featuring an 80 foot waterfall and the ruins of an old gristmill right on the grounds it makes for a unique and beautiful backdrop for any type of session. It almost feels like you have just stepped into another world.

As soon as I met up with these two, I knew were going to have a great time. The weather was perfect and they have the most adorable chemistry. I don’t think we stopped laughing the whole time. It’s also not everyday that I have a groom who is as laid back and camera comfortable as Doug! They made my job so fun and easy and honestly, this romantic waterfall engagement session is one for the books! I feel so honored to be welcomed back into the life of an old friend and even more blessed to be there to capture these precious moments for this couple.
