Roberto + Lizzie | 25th Anniversary Session | Berry College

A few weeks ago I received an e-mail from Roberto, inquiring about an anniversary photo shoot to surprise his wife while they visited Rome for their 25th wedding anniversary. How incredibly sweet, I thought. He went on to tell me that he wished to gift her with experiences for their 25th year of marriage, rather than physical things. It was a simple, yet touching idea and I was immediately hooked on their love story.

Earlier this week, Lizze and Roberto drove from their home in St. Louis to Rome, GA to celebrate their 25th anniversary with a vow renewal. Roberto told me despite being a photo enthusiast himself, he and Lizzie had not had professional photos taken since their wedding day. It was long overdue and I was honored to be trusted with the opportunity to give them something to remember this milestone in their relationship. In the middle of some of the rainiest weather in December that I can remember, we had the most perfect, mild and sunny day on Tuesday. It was like the weather was showing off to wish these two a happy anniversary as well.

We spent the hour laughing and talking between shots. They told me about their wedding in Puerto Rico in 1993 and about some of their recent travels around the world. Meeting couples like Lizzie and Roberto, getting to hear their stories and witness the love they share, is one of my favorite parts of this job. I will forever encourage couples to celebrate and document their love stories. It’s something that’s just as important on day 9,131 as it is on day one.
